Mexican-born César Delgado has been praised for his “generous, lustrous tenor” and “committed, energetic acting” by Opera News. Mr. Delgado has been steadily building an active career that finds him regularly on the U.S., Mexican and all over the world operatic houses.
This 2023/2024 season he will be making his company debut with Opera San José as ‘Arcadio’ in Florencia en el Amazonas. Delgado covered ‘the same role ‘Arcadio’ in the premiere of Florencia en el Amazonas at the Metropolitan Opera. He performed the same role as well in his debut with Nashville Opera. Delgado is scheduled to sing ‘Rodolfo’ in La bohème at the Bellas Artes Theater in his debut with the Mexican National Opera Company, he will sing ‘Rodolfo’ as well with Saltillo Opera in Mexico. He is scheduled to sing ‘Edgardo di Ravenswood’ in Lucía di Lammermoor returning to Nashville Opera, he will sing ‘Alfredo’ in La traviata returning to Portland Opera in the Park’. He will return to Conjunto Santander theater to perform the soloist part of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Operatic highlights from previous seasons include creating the title role in the World premiere of Zorro (Armienta) in Fort Worth Opera and Opera Southwest. Mr. Delgado appeared at Regensburg Theater in Germany as ‘Edgardo’ in the new production of Lucía di Lammermoor directed by Brigitte Fassbaender. He appeared as ‘Duca di Mantova’ in Rigoletto with New Orleans Opera. Delgado created ‘Mr. Rodriguez’ in the East Coast premiere of Tobias Picker’s Awakenings in a co-production with Odyssey Opera of Boston/Boston Modern Opera Project, which was recorded as an album opera release. He made his role debut as ‘Pinkerton’ in Madama Butterfly with Santander Theater. International honors and awards include recipient of top prizes at The Giulio Gari Foundation 2018. The Gerda Lissner Foundation 2018. Opera Index Foundation 2016. Opera PALCCO competition 2020. Opera San Miguel Competition 2015. Etc. .Mr. Delgado graduated with a Professional Artist Studies from Mannes College for Music (2015) granted with the “President Full Scholarship”.
