Joseph Marcheso

Conductor

Joseph Marcheso returns in the 2011-2012 season to serve as assistant conductor for La traviata and Faust. Previous OSJ productions for which Mr. Marcheso has conducted or shared conducting duties include La bohème, La Cenerentola, Manon, Carmen, The Elixir of Love and Lucia di Lammermoor. In 2011, Mr. Marcheso conducted with Festival Opera and made his debut with Opera Theater St. Louis.

Beginning in 2012, Marcheso will be joining the conducting staff of San Francisco Opera, principally working on and covering John Adams’ Nixon in China and Jake Heggie’s Moby-Dick. He is also on the faculty of the opera department at San Francisco Conservatory of Music as conductor and coach. Previously, Marcheso served for 8 years as music director of Amato Opera in his native New York City.
