Chorus Master
Andrew Whitfield returns during the 2011-12 season as Chorus Master for Idomeneo, Pagliacci, La traviata and Faust, and serves as Assistant Conductor for La voix humaine and Pagliacci. Mr. Whitfield made his West Coast professional debut last summer conducting a performance of Lucia di Lammermoor with Festival Opera, and has served as assistant conductor to Michael Morgan in that company’s 2009 production of Faust. For Virago Theater of Alameda, he served as music director for their production of La bohème.
Other directorial credits include music director for New York’s Amato Opera, where he conducted performances of Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci, Aida, La forza del Destino, Falstaff, Madama Butterfly, La bohème, Tosca, Faust and Don Giovanni.
Mr. Whitfield currently studies conducting at San Francisco Conservatory under Michael Morgan.
