SIXTH ANNUAL
IRENE DALIS VOCAL COMPETITION
Opera San José, in association with Arts Management Services of San Francisco, will present the Sixth Annual Irene Dalis Vocal Competition on May 19, 2012, 3 p.m. at the California Theatre. At the conclusion of the West Coast Auditions for Singers, the ten best singers will be chosen as the featured competition finalists.

The ten finalists will compete for $50,000 in cash prizes: First prize ($15,000), second prize ($10,000) and third prize ($5,000.) In addition, a $5,000 prize for Audience Favorite will be selected by voting during the final intermission. A $1,000 Wagner Prize will be awarded (if there is an appropriate competitor in this voice fach.) The remaining seven contenders will receive $2,000 each as Encouragement awards.

A distinguished panel of judges will select the top three winners at the competition including Henry Akina, General Director and Artistic Director of Hawaii Opera Theatre; Ward Holmquist, Artistic Director of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City; and Brad Trexell, Director of Artistic Operations of Opera Colorado.
Timm Rolek, Artistic Director and Conductor of Lake Tahoe Music Festival; Peter Jaffe, Music Director and Conductor of Stockton Symphony; and Richard Harrell, Opera Program Director of San Francisco Conservatory of Music and visiting faculty for the Opera Studio of the Netherlands, will serve on the preliminary panel.
Accompanist for both the vocal competition finals and the auditions is pianist Catherine Miller.

- Orchestra Sides: $50 (25 is tax-deductible.)
- Orchestra Center: $100 ($50 is tax deductible.) Includes an opportunity to meet and talk with the judges before the event and a post-competition champagne reception with the finalists at the elegant Hotel Sainte Claire.
