For our second production of the 2011-12 season, we present a double-bill: Pagliacci, the opera that launched Leoncavallo into the international scene, paired with La voix humaine, which Poulenc composed for singer Denise Duval, from Cocteau’s “mono-drama” for Anna Magnani. Tha pairing of these two intensely dramatic operas explores the human psyche in a perfect union of music and drama.
