MAINSTAGE STUDENT MATINEES

Mainstage Student Matinees for the 2012 – 2013 season will be:

  • The Pearl Fishers (G. Bizet): Sept. 5, 2012: 11:30 a.m.
  • Die Fledermaus (J. Strauss): Nov. 7, 2012: 11:30 a.m.
  • Il trovatore (G. Verdi): Feb. 6, 2013: 11:30 a.m.
  • Suor Angelica & Gianni Schicchi (G. Puccini): April 10, 2013: 11:30 a.m.

Requesting Seats

To request seats at these student matinees, fill out an online form AFTER July 9, 2012. San Jose schools receive priority registration until September 30.

Additional Details

Mainstage student matinees, which run approximately 3 hours,  take place at the California Theatre located at 345 S. First Street in downtown San Jose. The Pearl Fishers will be sung in French with English supertitles; Die Fledermaus will be sung in German with English supertitles; Il trovatore, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. Study guides are sent in advance to prepare students for the performance. All operas are recommended for students 6th grade and older. For a synopsis of each work, click on each opera title.
